Define life (28th of April)

Dizziness caused me not being able to go uni in the morning. It's a typical problem after one night of one or two hours of sleep for me. I mean, I am that kind of person that need to have at least 6 hours of sleep at night which I rarely do so. That's why I always be like a half charged battery having energy drained 5 or 6 hours later. I thought I'd have gone back to sleep. Somehow, I was encouraged to review Jap and Media lectures that I missed for the day as the first thing I did after I made up my mind not going to uni. Then later on, I have gone so studious the rest of the day as my study mode was on as it proceeded. I completed my online forum which will be due this coming Wednesday. I have read through everything from two lectures and taken down some notes. To get half of my jap homework done and left some for tomorrow. But most importantly is that I've read more than 100 pages of readings including online readings for media course. Those are all for me to prepare for what I need to write for my blog.

Briefly run through something I read or heard today:

Doing online forum is a compulsory ongoing task to replace our tut discussion weekly, I treat it as less important and hence, it's the last thing to do. However, I do learn so many interesting facts about Science like the videos some others link to their comments. I don't know if other groups will be as same as us who largely contribute so much more external resources to put in a long chunk of comment. At least in my group, I see quite a few of them not only share some academic readings and movies via links but also the videos and books they introduce there are worth your time to explore. These great commenters also drive me to spend a lot more time to devote to this online forum. Anyways, for this week, our central topic is about intelligence, a distinction between human and other species. Several questions are derived from what the lecture is about but most of all, I found one of them have argued majority of others' point of view when the question is asked how the intelligence which can adapt to different environment (human) is different to other species who can only adapt to one single environment, and if the former has more evolutionary advantage. It's seen to be an easy question and obvious response to our prediction: Yes, definitely the former has more evolutionary advantage because problem solving formed by the complex structure of mind (We don't say brain here. Conceptually BRAIN and MIND are two literally separable things) which the surroundings are easily understood by us to know how to act, react and enact. Thinking process can never be linear and we have that ability to make the linkages with past experiences, whereas what makes other species more subordinate is that they are less likely to formulate an equation to adapt to the change of environment. Therefore humans have been living for years because we significantly develop our ways to build our shelter towards the predators and that increases a much higher chance to our continuation of reproduction. However this commenter disagrees with others, she said that when facing with MOST of difficult problems, human might be the boss but here, we put emphasis on a particular situation where other species are recognized as geniuses such as the KOALA (yay....I used koala in my comment as well :3) with scent gland in the centre of their chest to rub on the tree trunk for the sake of dominance. But after all, her point is coined with the word 'DIFFERENCE' to oppose other commenters. And I supported her with my agreeable manner providing other proofs to further up her view of difference. I use this example of a foreigner speaks a broken version of whichever language we speak, ok say, I am Chinese, I just came to Australia and that my English was much crappier than now. It sort of gave people a first impression that I was not intelligent or maybe I was even accused of having this speech problem too because I couldn't even express my thought fully. And half of the time I felt quite frustrated of not being able to directly make an effective conversation with people. However, you can't say I wasn't intelligent due to my language barrier, nor can you even make a comparison to whether you are more intelligent than me when we are just DIFFERENT. To link this back to other species and human, talking about the different levels human and other species are, there is no hierarchies when difference is acknowledged to be the case.

OK...another thing I've heard the most is gratitude. That shared moment when mum read me some stories she read from wechat where it seriously has become her main resource centre to expand her knowledge lool So here are some of my opinions I have for three stories. To respect your parents: doesn't mean you are obliged to create wealth for them but spend more time to be with them and understand them. Some minor things could always make them utmost happy. To listen to people who in need, help them without any rewards...

Anyways before I am going to finish this post, I just want to say.... The rent will be increased in two months. I am not sure what kind of challenge our family will be confronting. But I hope that before all that coming, my life is no longer a mess, so now I need to make a balance, a great great balance in order to prepare for my further decision making.
